Hi! I am Sarah Leukhardt but most people know me rather by my nickname Satsch. I work as a freelance Illustrator and Artist. My work focuses on coziness, deep touch with nature and the spirit of adventure. I love to draw all the little precious moments to capture the magic of everyday life.

I grew up in a small town in the South of Germany, and my childhood was marked by adventures in nature. When I‘m not drawing, you can find me hiking in the woods or baking in my kitchen.

Currently I am writing and illustrating my own children’s book.

Currently I am writing & illustrating my own Children’s Book. I decided to really dig into this project this year — I will, not doubt, have a lot to share about my book writing & illustrating process in the future
I am self-thaught & I've been teaching myself to draw for many years now. One thing that helps me most is Constistency – I turned drawing into a habit. I try to draw every day, even if it's just for 5 minutes.
+ I studied Graphic Design and worked as a UX/UI Designer until a few years ago. I think studying design helped me improve my design/layout skills, which I hope will now help me with my own book. Other than that, I don't think you need a degree to become an illustrator
I doubt there's even a right way, but I think my answer is to just start…Experiment, focus on the things you love most, and don't compare yourself with others. From my own experience I can tell the first years are tough. There are many barriers and setbacks you need to learn to deal with.
So taking risks is the only way to start. And don't let anything get you down
+ I've actually had a few different jobs (temp jobs + design jobs) before becoming a self-employed Artist. And luckily I have saved money over the years to have some security especially for the first years of self-employment.
What always helps me is spending time in nature. I also love reading old vintage (children's) books and photography & film is also a hobby I would like to do much more often.
And going down memory lane by taking a look through old children's photo albums to feel nostalgic + often the best ideas actually come to me while baking.

Yes I am planning to! Because I really love filming and editing videos.
I will, not doubt, have a lot to share about my book writing & illustrating process in the future. But for now I will continue working & spending most of my time working on this project closest to my heart-my children's book.
